It's comical to me that a rock star fucking a porn star is news in 2024. How far we've fallen as a society since the sex, drugs and rock-'n'-roll days.

Well it's different when the rock star is someone you are tired of seeing every 15 seconds and the defense is always "he is the nicest guy in rock and a family man and everyone should be more like him".
So it's more funny and vindicating than actually scandalous, and it says far more about people being tired of over-saturation than any kind of moral dilemma.

Exactly this. It goes counter to his "wholesome" image so people are responding like this. My old friend is an IT specialist and his boss actually had a meeting where he gathered everyone together and said that they needed to be "more like a Dave Grohl".
He was almost reprimanded for his response, which was along the lines of "What the FUCK are you talking about?".
So there is a meme going around the office with Dave's Instagram post that says "Don't Be Like A Dave Grohl".
I would imagine there is a lot of this going on.
