Nah. There's nothing remotely interesting in this song.

Usually when Eddie sings like this it sounds awful and makes me cringe, but on this song it works he sound unhinged and crazy and furious. Only live though. The studio track doesn't have that effect at all.



I mean we can all agree this is 10x better than the studio take right?

Audio's a bit better in this clip even though it's abbreviated

Id argue that in those live clips there is, namely that Eddie comes off like he's finally lost his goddamned mind, which makes the song work somehow

I agree, the studio recording sucks, hated it from day 1. I saw three shows, my only request was to only hear this song once (but preferred not at all)..... I heard it in Seattle 2 and was kind of blown away at how good it was live.

I heard it again in Missoula and was happy to hear it. I did a complete 180. Ed banging on the cowbell, while seems real cheesy and gimmicky, gets him into an angry mood and it comes across really well.

Ed didn't sound like he was straining on it in Missoula. Sounded quite good.

I like the verses to this song. Has that Matt Cameron swing to it and Ed channels his inner Trent Reznor. But then it goes into a lame ass chorus which kills it all for me.

I thought this sounded a little NIN from day one.

The first 1/2 of the song is great and hearing it live was a very nice surprise.

Unfortunately, the "bridge" and last 1/2 of the song is atrocious and pointless and super fucking lazy.

agreed on all counts. lazy is absolutely the word for the chorus/bridge. maybe the laziest in the entire pj catalogue?

Can’t Deny Me chorus/bridge or My Father’s Son calypso bridge

both stunt what might be an otherwise worthwhile contemporary foray into hardish rock by eddie and the pearl jams

The bridge in My Fathers Son is fantastic though

My Fathers Son is such a fantastic song. I love ed´s performance.
