Its the "It" movie of the season, and everyone "wants" to see it and " love it" because its "hip and current". Its not a movie, its just an artifact.

Also, your description isn't my experience at all. Even people who like the cast & director already hate this thing. I've had a lot of trouble getting people i know will love it interested. His last film was Whiplash. This one should be called Backlash. And that's a shame. Because it's a wonderful film. A film from things like cynicism, but people need to hate things sometimes.

I wasn't a fan of Whiplash. I thought the only thing that made it mildly engaging was all the unintentional comedy.
