That works, too.

Well I was way off. I guess the anti-analytics stuff has been in my head lately.

I also didn't think it a conspiracy would have gotten that crazy that fast. Yikes.

Cant blame Cash for following orders.
Definitely my favorite new conspiracy theory.
Is the conspiracy that he's just following orders from upper management? That's the new thing in Toronto, too. Montoyo spent all year making dumbass decisions that weren't supported by any stat, then as soon as he made a couple modern, analytical moves, all the "He doesn't actually run the team and he's just a figurehead for management!" stuff started.

I'm pretty sure every old-school baseball fan of every team uses it to emphasize that nerds are ruining baseball by pretending it's just a select group of guys in suits supporting these moves instead of admitting that it's the way baseball is moving across the board.

It's especially hilarious with the Rays, though. Their analytics department has been miles ahead of the rest of the league for the last decade, and it's probably the biggest reason they've been so good despite being so cheap. Yet people seem to think because they haven't won it all yet and because this one specific example backfired on them that analytics is suddenly to blame for everyone's struggles.
They haven’t won it all because they are welfare queens, but I don’t think it’s a “conspiracy” to say things like this Snell early lift are out of Cash’s hands.
Lol okay man, sure.

Congrats Freddie.
Dec 2010, I'm in the Atlanta airport going somewhere or another. I'm in line in one of the shops and the guy behind me looks vaguely familiar. Early 20s, tall & athletic looking but not particularly buff. Short blond hair with glasses, khakis and a pink knit shirt. I ask "Freddie?" and he has a look on his face that said he was surprised to be recognized. I said something like "good luck, I wish you well" and reached to shake his hand. He said something like "thanks, I appreciate it" and that was that.
Not much of a story, I know, but it's true.

Edit: also voted Player of the Year by the MLB Player Association, which is pretty damn cool in its own right

Seems like a reasonable number of games, given the circumstances.

I don't think the season is too long at all - it's one of my favourite things about baseball - but I don't see a 130 game season in 2021 as something to be "worried" about. It's still a lot of games and it's 80% of a normal season. Not bad. Imagine if they only had time to squeeze in 60 games or something? That would be ridiculous!

TBF the quote from that tweet is "Industry officials" who are worried, which obviously means they are worried about $$$. Not surprising that this comes out near the start of free agency, so teams have something on the books they can use as a reason to depress salaries some more.

It's messed up that it took until now for it to happen, but I'm also surprised they're doing it, so... good job!
