He should get an Emmy solely for the look on his face those last 10 seconds as he’s slumped against the wall.

They deserve all the emmys for this but haven’t a hope of getting any it seems, whatever way it’s stitched up.

He deserves a better end than that but here we are. War is unfair and rebellions are merciless.
Ohhh... interesting. I had a very different read on this. I don't think he had any idea Cassian was targeting Dedra. And the entire point was that Cassian had no idea who Syril is. And Syril had been obsessing over Cassian for a long time.

"The axe forgets but the tree remembers."

Maybe I’m wrong that’s just my first read of it. Someone else told me he’s just angry and pissed off he’s been left out of the loop and didn’t know what they were doing there. I don’t buy that fully but it could be a little of both. He definitely doesn’t know that’s cassian I wasn’t suggesting that at all. That just a great portrayal of what can happen in the chaos of a situation like that.

He did see him lining up a shot on her though. I’m fairly sure of that.
I could go either way but I settle on it being focused on Andor. Syril has used his internal rage at the disorder Andor fomented early on to flourish in service to the Empire. It drove him for years — getting Andor never left his mind.

I like it. But if it’s true they didn’t really put any effort into showing that. He obsesses a bit and it’s sort of never mentioned again. It’s probably fairer to say someone like Syril was always going to explode at some point. It could have as easily just been at one of the staff in the office given enough time.

I don’t know why he stood out to me in that episode. It was just such a weird way to have him go out. Would have thought Dedra had him shot in the crowd or does it herself in anger
She’s presumably gonna get taken out too. Wonder how they do that

Here’s what happens next with Mon. Doubt they’ll recreate this onscreen live action But they just might.
They have all the cast for it. It’s Rebels season 3 episode 18. ‘Secret cargo’ if you’re curious.

That interview with Dan Gilroy is really worth listening to. He gets into the weeds of the writing and the scenes. Tony talks more about the big picture production stuff.
But Dans talking about motivations and Bix and Cassian most of all.

Is it only me concerned about Mon's complete lack of thought for her husband and daughter?
I mean, I know it wasn't a great marriage, but it wasn't dead. She must have SOME affection for her husband, and she certainly loved her daughter.
They're both going to be tortured and killed by the Empire, and she didn't even so much as mention their names in this chapter.

It was implied that her daughter’s in-laws were Empire loyalists, wasn’t it? I can’t remember exactly if that guy Luthen talked to at the wedding about the Imperial Navy was the groom or just some dude. Her daughter is probably ok if she’s now part of an anti-rebellion family.

Her husband, fuck him.

Sure YOU think that, but she wouldn't be so unequivocal.

It's say go back to S1 and refresh yourself about the facts of their marriage.

Luthen knows how the husband is with her and what he has over her. Wouldn’t be shocked if the husband and daughter are in an unfortunate accident. Offscreen.

There's no way Syril went after Cassian because he thought he was aiming at Deedra. It was so clearly an obvious "this is the guy who has been in my head for literally 5 years"

Mons daughter has been married for two years into an imperial friendly, very wealthy family. She's probably safe and Mon knows it. As for Perrin, I wouldn't be shocked to see him pop back up, and possibly redeemed somewhat.

He doesn’t know it’s andor. That’s not why he goes for him at all
And that’s obvious if you watch it closely.

If you don’t want to, there’s a podcast interview with the writer Dan Gilroy who wrote the scene posted above ^^ and he says he doesn’t know it’s Cassian and is just acting out of rage that’s built up over a long time. He has no clue it’s cassian andor in front of him.
You’re welcome.
