if he got infected, which is more likely:
1) Let him die in office as a martyr
1b) cancel the elections because it isn't fair to run against him while he's sick
2) 25th amendment his ass right the fuck outta there

Let's say hypothetically Gaetz gave him the virus on AF1. It incubates for two weeks and then he becomes ill. Very ill considering his age and overall health. He'd be dead by mid April. That's not close enough to November to effect the election.

Who decided to pray as a solution to rocketing HIV infections when he was governor rather than you know, take the solutions offered to him by experts.

Maybe fumbling the coronavirus response is part of his plan to kill trump and take over as president? Show some gratitude!

Sure, they built a full-scale medical center with all the infrastructure needed to serve as an ICU in just a matter of days...but an unrelated pre-existing hotel that the government requisitioned collapsed.

I do really worry about how influential hospital bed / caregiver availability might be to our ability to mitigate this thing.
South Korea: 12.3 beds per 1,000 people. Some success at containment.
China: 4.3 beds per 1,000 people. A rushed increase in hospital services was needed.
Italy: 3.2 beds. Overrun. Shutting the whole country down in order to prevent healthcare system collapse.
United States: 2.8 beds.

Italy is one of the oldest populations in Europe. Also really high smoker rates. Don’t know about over there but we’re being told most people up to mid 50s are going to be wow just go stay home and recover no need to hospitalization unless extremely sick and it will only appear as a bad flu in the majority of people.
I wonder though.
No fuckin way is our health service ready we’ve got 36 cases so far and they’re scrambling to repurpose buildings like old fever hospitals Around the country into isolation wards. But the manpower isn’t there I don’t think.

The average age in Italy is 47 years old (compared to 36 in Ireland). The difference in the average, as you said, is due to a disproportionate number of older citizens.
The average age in rural America is almost the same, 45, for the same reason. It also has an unusually large collection of heavy, lifelong smokers. And the nearest clinic can be many miles away....sometimes nearly a hundred.

What still surprises me about this, is the huge outbreak in the richest area of Italy. Had it been Naples-area, we'd all have been "ow, right, logical, we should be safe over here as long as we manage to flatten the curve a bit". But this? Milan-area? I'm not so sure anymore to be honest.

Houston is cancelling the remainder of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.
It's the right move, but I'm still very surprised to learn this. When SXSW was canceled last week, the conventional wisdom here was that the rodeo isn't as "international" as SXSW and the show would go on.
For perspective, the HLSR is an entire month long carnival, rodeo, and live music series that hosts nearly 2.5 million annual attendees.
