In short, Kavanaugh’s hopes are a little dimmer tonight

Does anyone in the world sincerely believe Kavanaugh is a rampaging sexpest, though?

It all seems like some horrifying, shameful beat-up.

The entire effect it will have is this: he acknowledged a willingness to replace. Privately, he’s been super aggressive about keeping him, so republicans have responded to that. Put him in front of the press, he says otherwise, and a lot of the party pressure on senators just vanishes.

The Republicans must be in a panic. NPR said they contacted all of the Republican members of the Judicial Committee and no one, NO ONE, would agree to be interviewed.

i know guys who engaged in similar behavior in high school and college, and a couple of them were from upper class families. that doesn't mean he's guilty, obviously, but it's enough to convince me of the possibility.
Even if it were possible, how is anyone able to come to a conclusion on any firm basis considering the fallibility of memory and the passage of time? That these allegations should bar the guy from being a Supreme Court judge absent some extremely compelling evidence seems bizarre, but the political nature of the confirmation process in general seems very weird to me.

my sense is that the real pressure has been from Grassley and McConell (and probably some other senators who are less front and center), because they have an idiology to assert. Trump's pressure to ram Kavanaugh through is more about him winning than having anything to do with the future of federal law; he'd be just as happy to have a chimpanzee on the Supreme Court, so long as it for him good ratings.

By all means, push back if you think i'm wrong, but i fail to see another narrative
Vote drumming is a primary job of legislative leadership. There is no scenario where Kavanaugh is the nominee and they don’t exhibit exactly the behaviors you describe. Ever. White House refusal to rescind their selection is the only reason for all this spinning. The seat is theirs either way.

Remember, McConnell was opposed to even nominating Kavanaugh, exactly because it would be hard to get the votes.

This claim was sent to a Republican.

Only Dr. Ford’s claims went through Democrat channels. What do any of the other claims even have to do with Democrats?

Also curious....a mere passing thought...

Do you think any of this stuff may have been in his files that the Republicans withheld from the judiciary committee and republicans?

I don't know, if it was just the one allegation, maybe. But I think multiple allegations establish something and even if that's just upholding an atmosphere where these kinds of things were allowed to fester, he needs to answer to that.
