On Valentines Day? JFC tree.
I wooed her over the weekend with a hot tub in a getaway cabin. We were cooking dinner and the kids were running around. It was a good time!

I can't speak for joostone, but there are many things I can't stand about that song. The lyrics, the melody, and the singing, for starters. There are few Pearl Jam songs that I flat out don't like. This being one.
I’m mostly with you on this one. It wants to be a fun, lighthearted song…the clearest demonstration that Backspacer is the “fun” record…but it’s just kinda gross and lame. Very aggressive “I’M FUN NOW” energy.
Eddie ruins this song. He should have given the song away because his delivery is atrocious. It’s one of the few Pearl Jam songs to me where his voice sounds plain bad. No real amount of studio magic could fix it.

If I had a Time Machine and there was a song I would go back to and play for them in that basement in Seattle before they ever played a gig, it would probably be this one.

Or hail hail. Or given to fly.
Etc etc etc

I think about this too much.

No singer on earth could make that a song worth revisiting.

the closest pj have gotten to that energy in a while. I know they’re not trying to but closest to themselves at that point.
:hooray:

Well, maybe not all those things

But it's a very good song

Haha, that would mess with their heads. We would probably never get the music we've gotten, the way we've gotten it then.

I’ve come from the future with a message! And that message is…uh…sorry, it’s not playing. What’s your WiFi password? Goddamn I knew I should have downloaded it first

song is still a great time, I'm playing it every day and it's becoming a good friend instead of an annoyance; when I complain about Pearl Jam, it's not usually about production and more about them phoning it in, performance-wise and lyrically; zero complaints about those things here; my one complaint is that it's squashed structurally, too edited, but I can easily live with that; still a 4

I love the way Ed sings "it's... strange... these days... well", some of that old nasality in his voice is back, and the way "well" comes down to a lower note again and is pushed just in front of the next snare note instead of falling with it; it's those little subtleties that I love about Pearl Jam and that kind of syncopated funky singing really does remind me of a song like "Go"

also, I'm still saying this is Ed's best expressed "political" writing since Riot Act; the message is so very clear, all agreement, no cringe
