No. Lots of bands have done that.

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
I'm really startingto buy into the "reverse tracklist order" reveal theory... (wow, that's a mouthful)

3.

5.
6.
7.
8. Getaway
9. Swallowed Whole
10. Yellow Moon
11. Sirens
12. Future Days
a) Future Days just makes sense, from what we know about, as a closer
b) BoB said that Sirens was one of the longer songs and second to last is a typical spot for placing the longest song on the album.
c) Getaway feels/sounds/vibes, etc. as a track 8 (you know the punkish/rocking number that's the 2nd track on side B - think grievance, get right, etc.)
d) I originally pictured Swallowed Whole as a 4, 7 or 9. So this would fit as well. (don't ask me why, just believe it!)

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
So 'Getaway' is this album's Supersonic.

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
oh well, I was going to compare the title to big wave and supersonic in justifying my reasoning for guessing that it was #8, but then I did not want to forever spoil your potential enjoyment of Getaway for all eternity.harmless wrote:So 'Getaway' is this album's Supersonic.

"Logical extension of Backspacer."
What if this album is the yin to BS's yang? The dark side to its light side?
We have tracks which are self-referential ("Swallowed Whole") and stylistically, it seems to me that tracks of a similar style are in the same place on the album.
If "Unthought Known" was track 7, LB being there would continue to make perfect sense.

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
after all, the image does include dunce caps... so it could be a fun/goofy track ala those 2 tracks whose names must never be spokenbluestate wrote:oh well, I was going to compare the title to big wave and supersonic in justifying my reasoning for guessing that it was #8, but then I did not want to forever spoil your potential enjoyment of Getaway for all eternity.harmless wrote:So 'Getaway' is this album's Supersonic.

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
Future Days as the album closer would *maybe* help to explain that out of place piano outro. I could buy that being a bookend of an album. Maybe it's the intro to the album, too, a la master/slave.... god I hope notbluestate wrote:I'm really startingto buy into the "reverse tracklist order" reveal theory... (wow, that's a mouthful)

that would mean we got our conceptual double album everyone was (s)creaming for. And that would piss a lot of people off.harmless wrote:"Logical extension of Backspacer."

2. Mind Your Manners = Got Some

8. Getaway = Supersonic
9. Swallowed Whole = Unthought Known
10. Yellow Moon = Speed of Sound
11. Sirens = FoN
12. Future Days = The End[/quote]
The difference is that SW / UK and G / S should be switched around to fit the theory perfectly.

Only if you can also call 'Supersonic' that. Which, er, you can't.Iowaska_Experience wrote:Getaway = RVM [part deux]

Re: Lightning Bolt -- guess the tracks!
I would be fine with it. Let's be honest, even if they're a pair, they're still hopefully different albums. Maybe Brendan wanted to start immediately with the next one because the two albums are part of the same concept. I still think this one's got a chance of being much better.Lounge Lizard wrote:that would mean we got our conceptual double album everyone was (s)creaming for.
