He kinda sounds like he might be hiding an agreed-upon return. We don't know anything of course, but it's plausible.

I really hope that "Eddie Vedder and Friends" features 4-5 drummers from the rumored shortlist of PJ replacements.

Then on Sunday, the actual drummer is someone completely different.

I think I'm more excited for the Eddie & Friends bit at Ohana than I am about the Pearl Jam's set & the inevitable let down of finding out who they picked for their new drummer.

Please go watch the Drumeo where he limps through 10. I know it's tough playing along with music post-production, but it's hard to watch. There's no way he can pull off Grievance or Mind Your Manners or even Spin the Black Circle. I have all the respect in the world for Krusen, he made his mark, but at this age, you need to be an absolute athlete to carry a band like Pearl Jam through 2 hours or even an hour, and he's not there.

I think at this point the issue is less his style and stamina and more that Ed’s rein is total, absolute, supreme, and shall remain unchallenged; and any new drummer must accept that they are human only in flesh, exist as a vessel through which they will solely execute instruction, acknowledge that their views are irrelevant and inferior unless they relate specifically toward supporting and congratulating Ed’s actions; and will not be permitted to engage in any independent thought or action while in the service of Pearl Jam LLC; and accordingly the pool of available candidates will be comprised solely of drumming consultants pre-screened by E&Y, disposable, and exchangeable at the discretion of the LLC at any point in time.
