I live in Ohio and I'm an Ohio State basketball fan by the way. So maybe I like Oden and think he is good. Call me a troll because you knock my boy and when it happens back to your boy you pull the troll card. I'll talk about Oden all I want.

Well I was talking about the fact I think he can still be a defensive force down low for the Miami Heat. Nobody is saying he's gonna go Shaq on anyone. All he has to do is play one end of the court and guard a 10 foot area around the rim. I already said I don't think he will stay healthy but IF he can he will be a defensive presence that can defend and stop Hibbert, who is okay but nothing special on offense.

Then that's where you came in saying "this is ridiculous talk, what nonsense".

They want to try to keep him healthy for the playoffs because they know if he is healthy, then Hibbert can't score in the Offs. If he plays now, more than likely he gets hurt and sits during the playoffs. Do you pay attention to the NBA? I thought this had been talked about at length everywhere.

So a guy with busted knees who hasn't played since 2009 is just going to turn into superman in April? Pat Riley is a genius!

Yep it's gonna take Superman to hold the mighty Hibbert down. Either that or maybe just a really big strong good defender.

Well Pat Riley knows more than you and I about the NBA and he signed him for the second half of the season and playoffs for a reason. I think I'm gonna go on a limb and say he knows what he's doing. Oden may not make it without injury but the Spurs tried like hell to sign him for this season too. It's not some crazy hail mary, Oden if healthy can play defense at a high level even with his injury history.

I don't rate Hibbert as highly as some others do, but he is not having any problems handling a guy simply because he is big and used to play for Ohio state. Now if Miami could somehow get a guy like Omer Asik that would be a different story.....

Ya that's why the Spurs tried like hell to sign him this past offseason and why the Heat did sign him.....because he played for Ohio State. You better hope like hell he isn't healthy come time for this series.

:haha: brings up an ex Bull. Geesh. Asik makes 14 million next year, who's talking nonsense now? The Heat can afford that how?

oh nice!!!

growing up with, working with, and living with OSU fans all my life made me hate the football team.

anyway, sometimes a team goes after and signs a big man just to have a big body. sometimes they sign them thinking they are going to do big things but that never happens. this was the case with Eric Dampier. two teams really wanted him because he was going to be "the missing piece". lolz.

i know nothing of Oden's career or the last time he played a game. how healthy is he? is he practicing full on? is he in shape? i feel like the one thing he has going for him is his age.

Oden could play right now but the Heat are just waiting for the second half of the season because they don't need him now. The only reason both the Heat and Spurs rolled out the red carpet for him in free agency was because they know what he can give them in a playoff series against a good center. If he was on another team he would be playing in games right now but the Heat just don't want to risk him getting hurt now and then they have to defend the Hibbert's with Bosh/Birdman. His last game was a pre-season game earlier this year, he was only in a minute or two though. It was just pre-season but he is able to play in games. He wasn't in basketball shape per say but he should be getting there by now I would think.

The hilarious thing is, Rat Riley and R. C. Buford, two of the NBA's best GM's, think Oden will be able to guard Hibbert come playoff time. But RM posters don't, so no way it can happen right. Hibbert averages 13 points a game. So I am saying Oden can hold the guy to 4 points less than his average which would keep him from double figures. You can say what's the big deal then. Well it isn't a big deal, really, but it keeps him from getting 4 to 6 points over his average which helps win a series. It isn't making Oden an all-star or the series MVP, but it does stop Hibbert from propelling the Pacers over the Heat. I didn't think that was some amazing crazy statement but I guess it was. :shake: :haha:

Oden if healthy is still an excellent defender. I guarantee it. :D
