You remember when sitcoms ruled the world? You would glue yourself to the tv every week to watch the new episode? You built your week around it? Then every so often they would pull that shit and show their montage episodes? How fucking disappointing that was? That is what this feels like.

All those scenes with Joker and quin? Wow. No impact whatsoever. Also, so he zapped her mind and that is why she's nuts and thats it? WTF

Im not sure how any directors cut would make this story better

When they cast Smith the studio said not to worry, he was just another member of the squad, and he will be in full character the whole movie.
