josh freese seemed like the obvious move b/c he knows the band and is clearly talented enough to just hop in and play. if they didn't want him to be in other bands they never should have hired him. i know the foo fighters are more popular, but are you really gonna leave APC to join the foo fighters full time? and never play with NIN?
