Yeah it was really no big deal. The worst part was telling people I've been around in the last week and them needing to go get tested. Thankfully it was only 4 people and they're also vaccinated, so hopefully they'll all be okay too.

About 3 weeks ago my wife and I had a really bad "cold" that lasted about a week. We are fully vaccinated so it didn't register it could have been COVID. But it was runny nose and chest congestion which weren't symptoms (traditionally) of COVID. I'm now reading that the Delta variant has these symptoms, so now I'm thinking we may have had it as well.

How many hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of vaccinated people thought exactly like this? I certainly would. Taking waning immunity into account, which will only accelerate, the 'breakthrough infections' rate is potentially in the double digits.

But just like 4/5, it was nothing but a cold. What would it have been had we not been vaccinated? Breakthrough cases are one thing, but how many breakthrough cases are leading to hospitalization and death?

I don't know how we would know that given that we don't know how quickly immunity is waning. We can say what it is right now, but it's going to be changing day-to-day as the people who were in the first round of shots lose their protection. The more vaxxed people who get infected, the higher the count (not necessarily rate) of vaxxed people who will be hospitalized and die. So whatever it is today is potentially the best it will be until we get boosters out there or until we get some level of natural herd immunity through cases like 4/5 went through where he's been vaxxed and overcame infection.

I don't think that the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Food and Drug Administration, or the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices told us ANY of those things.

But I agree. Political polling is inaccurate and Critical Race Theory exists, so medical science doesn't work anymore. Excellent point.

Well at least now China or Russia know that if they were to release a virus that killed at a higher rate than COVID, it would be successful as we've shown them that half of our country won't believe it does anything.
