McLachlan had a bunch of pretty good songs back in the day. Then that Toy Story 2 scene caused generational trauma and we've never forgiven her (or Canada for that matter).

Indeed, saw the Allmans plenty but had to sell every single Beacon ticket I ever attempted... just never worked out.

Indeed, saw the Allmans plenty but had to sell every single Beacon ticket I ever attempted... just never worked out.

We were lucky enough to see a couple of shows in two different Beacon Runs. 2013 and Spring 2014. At the time that Spring ‘14 run was supposed to be the last and we saw the final two. Our second show, Gregg missed and it was an incredible show. They ended up canceling that last show. Wish I could’ve seen any of that last run.

As a teenager in the 90’s I chatted with Gregg Allman a few times at a local pizza parlor where he was a regular. I was a casual fan of his band at the time. Midnight Rider and Dreams were my favorites back then. I can’t remember anything about our conversations other than he was nice and eager to talk.

Wow. Best I got for pizza parlors was talking to the uncle of MLB player Clay Bellinger, who I think is the cousin of current MLB player Cody Bellinger.

That uncle of a cousin strangely also eager to talk and acted just like a regular guy.

I saw the allmans in 2000, one of the last shows with Betts. A totally shitfaced biker next to me spent the whole concert shouting WHIPPING POOOOOST

I watched some of Jackie Brown today. It features Tennessee Stud by Johnny Cash. I hadn’t thought about that song in maybe 10 years or more.

i've been listening to this song for over 30 years and I just realized the play on words in the title like 2 weeks ago lol

I had no idea it was about him as I’ve never really delved into the behind the music aspect of AiC.

In the liner notes of 1999's Music Bank box set collection, Jerry Cantrell said of the song:
I was thinking a lot about Andrew Wood at the time. We always had a great time when we did hang out, much like Chris Cornell and I do. There was never really a serious moment or conversation, it was all fun. Andy was a hilarious guy, full of life and it was really sad to lose him. But I always hate people who judge the decisions others make. So it was also directed towards people who pass judgments.

Reflecting on the song in a 2017 interview, Cantrell said:
A really significant thing for all of us - was kind of a heavier foreshadowing of some things that would directly affect us and our friends - was the death of Andy Wood. That song was me thinking about him like we all did, and trying to put that down and just kind of write a little ode for him. Because he wasn't there, and everything was taking off... It was a nice thing to be able to use that song, it was very poignant I thought, because we kind of carried him with us.
