I am going to start hitting up some Queen in the studio albums thread. I have always considered them a greatest hits band, and grew up with the two companion greatest hits and best of and was always satisfied with that. There’s a dramatic element to them that I often find to be too much. They are the rock band most closely associated with musical theater to me.

Here's 2 of my favorite Queen songs. I'm pretty sure neither of them are on any Greatest Hits Compilations.

Who's better: Queen or Meat Loaf??

Queen’s talent is undeniable although the only song I really like by them is Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

There isn’t one second of Meat Loaf’s music that I wanted to hear again.

I did talk about it some in the studio albums thread - Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, and of course Bob Marley. Reggae loses me as it turns into dance hall and most dub as well.

It branches out into so many subgenres, I honestly can't tell most of them apart.
Familiar songs getting the Reggae treatment is something I seem to enjoy a lot.

Reggae is definitely one of my least favorite genres

I used to love it when younger and now older it gives me anxiety

Without any context for what they’re currently going through with the British government this song is still a banger and very very fuckin pointed and it hits the spot it’s even better if you know what’s going on.

Porno For Pyros has some really good shit. I don't know why I avoided them for so long, being a big fan of Jane's Addiction. Probably because Perry Farrell is a gigantic douche.

yeah, i feel you. I remember being on the fence back in the day because dave and eric werent there and Perry wore a suit in some live show haha jesus i was very uptight as a kid.

But i always loved Pets and Tahitian Moon, and the albums are awesome...i went back to it last year when i did a dive into them, Deconstruction and the solo albums from Dave and Eric A

aw man, that album brings back some good memories.

I always imagine Jakob Dylan is really impressed with himself for the line "the only difference that I see is you are exactly the same as you used to be."

You know in Cake's "Short Skirt / Long Jacket" when they do the sort of yelling repetition bit? You know, "I want a girl with good dividends" 'GOOD DIVIDENDS!' That part? When they yell back "MEET ACCIDENTLY" it might be my favorite moment in Cake's whole catalog. Hell, it might be my favorite moment in any song of the 2000s.
