Lots of people like me have walked away, leaving this toilet bowl that always had so much potential. It's why I revisit every so often, to see if there is some life still left in here. It's probably better to just leave the same 20 people to circle jerk and prejudge their way into hating the next album after they've had 4 months to kick it around.

Just engage and post about the music? I've tried that, but it gets followed up w/ 5 pages of snark that people who think they own this place believe is really charming (again, I was around these parts 20 years ago, if it's meant to be humorous and fails on any kind of comedic level). It's toxic, and I wish this place could help me enjoy the musical journey but that's probably wishful thinking. I'm pretty much right where Stip is, and I doubt I'll be able to experience Gigaton in any meaningful way here.
Guy who comes onto a messageboard to repeatedly moan about how horrible it is: "man, this place is toxic."

And, I feel fortunate they're still around. It is very rare to have band situations where people are even around, together, and alive much less have an opportunity to put out a song like DoTC.

Some of the fan entitlement over the last 15 years, as if the band is required a certain level of customer service in terms of creative approach, is nauseating to me. I want them to make something that represents where they are spiritually at as accurately as possible. Whatever that is. If they can accomplish that to a successful degree, then it's good art to follow. The whole idea of people wanting specific tempos, styles, lyrics, and technical approaches, is a fanbase that has lost it's way more than the band themselves. They are not a fuckin jukebox.
I’m not sure why you have such a problem with fans - who love the band - discuss things they love most about the band and would like to see from them. This is the internet and a message board devoted to the band for discussions about the band. If we took your approach of “whatever they give is fine” then this board would cease to exist. Also I don’t think you really understand much of how this board interacts.

Prehistoric nucleus? But were you sworn-in before the flannel panel?
I pledge to be 100% boring and never troll-out again. I will make my interactions here pleasant, like sitting through an agricultural economics class.

that was the case for S/T for the most part but it was less and less the case for each subsequent record.
I recall there being a lot of disappointment for LB when they debuted that Future Days at wrigley

Gigaton meanwhile is setting a totally different tone

it’s been a very successful marketing campaign thus far
yup I remember disliking both Future Days and Lighting Bolt when they debuted at Wrigley. But there was still hope for the album. Mind Your Manners dropped and I remember most liking it alot? Getaway was pretty decent, Father's Son was pretty good. Sirens was divisive but pretty much liked and Pendulum was awesome from the teaser.

The atmosphere right now is the most positive I can remember certainly since S/T - and perhaps eclipsing it
i think it’s more positive than S\T

and if/when they drop a second single with a meaty guitar solo they will have cornered both ends of the pop/rock music market and will have everyone eating out of the palm of their hands once again
