No, I'm pretty sure that by saying "at the direction of the candidate" this puts us somewhere near Neptune as far as precipices go.

I think, if anything, this should make impeachment a viable issue for the midterms.

Yes.

But he has another trial coming up AND he might have another trial on those 10 counts. So... it's totally possible that Trump could be impeached and removed from office before he can pardon him. But as long as Trump is President, Manafort will be pardoned. It's a 100% guarantee. There is zero chance that Trump does not pardon him if able.
