Tyrannical is an overstatement, but let’s not forget only 28% of NYCs black population is vaccinated so it’s definitely got some problematic elements to it

Until about a month ago I didn't think that, but over the last few weeks it seems like the only outcome.

No. Like many other illnesses, you will get it multiple times. If you are heathy and vaccinated, it's not something to waste energy worrying about. From what I've read the three biggest things you can do to ensure you have the mildest symptoms possible when you do get it are vaccinate, maintain a healthy weight and maintain an active lifestyle.

Seems to me the goal has always been to keep hospitals from being overwhelmed. Getting Covid while vaccinated seems to help us there more than anything else could. Covid minus the vaccine leads to high numbers & deaths. So yeah, everyone will probably get it at some point, but first we had “slow the spread” which saw protests, now we have protests about masks and the vaccine itself. So… I’m not sure this a “we were fucked either way,” type of thing. More of a “here’s a viable solution” that too many people said “no thanks” to. Not coincidentally, these are often times the people whining about their freedoms being taken from them, with no sense that they’re making this whole process of getting back to freedom take longer.

There needs to be a distinction between the virus (SARS-CoV-2) and the disease (COVID-19). I continue to be convinced that everyone is going to have the virus enter their bodies at some point. Whether or not it results in the disease, and especially to what extent, can have its odds significantly dented with the vaccines.
