Honestly, I WANT it to be Ahsoka more than anything. If I could pick ONE thing to happen in all of Star Wars right now (be it something in Mando, The Kenobi series, or Ep 9) I would pick Ahsoka to be the person who rescues Mando in that flashback.

But I also understand that there are many other possible answers. And given that The Mandalorian isn't available to a lot of the world right now I just think it's unlikely to be Ahsoka or Kenobi. Again, I'd LOVE it. And I'd love to be wrong. But I think the odds are slim.

If it's a known character I think Rex is the most likely. Then Saw. Then probably either a lesser known Mandalorian or a new character.

Does he care about The Child? He's made no effort to comfort or feed it. He takes off and chases after Jawas without giving The Child much thought. He puts The Child in harms way A LOT. I don't know man. Dude ain't foster dad of the year or anything.

I would say a lesser known mando.

Hell maybe the mando isnt even a mando, he becomes one because of this guy who saves him.

Remember.
It was all simple tricks and nonsense according to Han when Luke and obi wan are on the falcon. And that was only 20 years after the fall of the republic and Jedi purge.

Empire wiped out all memory of the Jedi. All of it. So by th time it gets to Rey the Jedi truly are a myth.

History is written by the victors.

Very interesting idea there, TVG. I think that would be a fun twist. But I do worry that it cuts too close to the Jango bone. If he's not really Mandalorian, then he will be the THIRD bounty hunter we've met who wears Mandalorian armor but isn't actually Mandalorian.

Look, man, I get that fandom wants it. I hope all of you are satisfied with whatever the answer ends up being. I just hope this large swath of the fanbase is also managing their expectations. Again, it may well be one of those characters and many of them would makes sense and be very cool. But let's remember what happened not so long ago when everyone's Snoke theory turned out to be dead wrong.

Just manage expectations.

I will be here laughing me head off when napzok and scrimshaw are losing their minds in their reaction pod to any of the above appearing :)

Exactly. And that's powerful. But again it would SEEM to play against the idea that a Jedi rescues him in those flashbacks. It could still totally work. But it's a fun wrinkle to consider and something that -- whatever the answer ultimately ends up being -- gets explicitly addressed in the show proper.

So then you think they agree more with me? Why do you think that? I haven't heard them address this at all yet.

See, I LOVE this idea. Let's dive into what that would mean. And how that relates to his distrust of droids. That would be a fun thing to explore. :heartbeat:

I meant kens very cool ‘speculate responsibly’ mantra. You’re echoing it and rightly so.
Good to have a grounding voice.

I know! It's a lot of fun. I think I'm probably less excited about this show than most SW fans right now and even I'm having a blast watching and discussing. It's just fantastic fun!

I should clarify...

George Lucas said he is not. In an episode of The Clone Wars series, Kenobi eludes to this as well, calling Jango a "common bounty hunter" and then further opining that the means by which Jango came across Mandalorian armor is beyond him. So, George says he's not and Kenobi says he's not in a canon source.

However, there is still a lot we don't know. In other sources it's known that Jango claims to ALLEGEDLY be from Concord Dawn, which is a territory ruled by The Mandalorians. So there is some connection there but it's important to note that not everyone believes he's telling the truth about that.

So, it's possible that further, new canon could clear all of this up and change things so that Jango (and thus Boba) are firmly, canonically Mandalorian once and for all. But George's original vision/idea was that Jango was a bounty hunter who "stole" the armor (or came by it in some nefarious way) and not an actual Mandalorian.

well look at that...I would love then if Bobba is who rescues the kid and teaches about the Mando stuff.

Yeah I don't think they'll retcon (for lack of a better term) Boba Fett that way. Jango was just a dude who stole the armor and had good DNA for cloning.
