Sometime between roughly 8-15 years ago, Ed hosted a radio show where he played a bunch of his favorite songs. Someone on here (or the old board probably) shared a link to the whole show, and I downloaded it and burned it to a CD so I could listen to it in the car. I remember he played a Fugazi song I hadn’t heard and I really liked. At the end, when he was saying his goodbyes, he played an instrumental electronic song in the background and then let it play for a short bit after that.

He didn’t outright say “this is one of my ecstasy songs”, but something along the lines of “this is a little something I had made” and WE ALL concluded that it must be one of his ecstasy songs.

And then I woke up, I guess.

That was on Pearl Jam Radio, they called it the Eddie Vedder show. Kinda pseudo Self-Pollution Radio/Monkeywrench Radio 20 years later. I have the show too and know the song you're talking about. I don't know if he was messing around or whatever. I always wondered if you've seen Water on the Road where they take you backstage and Ed talks about recording stuff pre-show to relax if it wasn't a by-product of that.

I'd take Bushleaguer off. After that it's hard to say. Depending on the day I might single out Thumbing My Way, Green Disease, Help Help, even LBC. Lots of decent songs on Riot Act for me. After the run of my favorites

They're all bunched up in the pretty decent category. They work better for me on the album than as isolated songs since Riot Act is a real vibes record, but it also starts to wear me down towards the end.


There is the additional issue (for me) that Down and Undone are not on there. They would lighten the album (and I think their exclusion is thematically significant). Plus Undone is probably my favorite song from these sessions after I Am Mine

yeah, this is the stuff he made between shows, mostly his solo shows.
