no, i was quietly wiping my tears..

I remember being at a Mariners game once and Richie Sexson charged the mound. It was the goofiest thing you've ever seen.

Yeah that's the game. I was about 10 rows up behind the Mariner's dugout. You could hear them all yelling and cursing after it was broken up.

Later that year I was at a game where he hit a walk off homer. I think I went to 36 home games that year. That was a good year.

i just read up on his mound charging...a lot going on in his head at the time as his kid was in the hospital and the mariners were sucking it...he now coaches high school baseball

If Ernie Shore doesnt get credit for a perfect game or a no-hitter, MadBum shouldnt either. Crediting Shore with a combined no-hitter almost seems like an insult all things considered.

But maybe it could happen. 10-inning perfect game but in the 10th a runner starts on 2nd base. Maybe that guy steals two bases. Or scores on a sac fly.

Was a road game so I dont think he got 9 innings in, but Matt Young pitched a no hitter where he gave up two runs and lost.

Yeah a lot can happen in a no hitter (walks, errors). I meant perfect game.

I hadn't taken the new extra innings rules into account. But even if the runner from 2nd scored on 2 stolen bases, the pitcher is involved in those plays--so I wouldn't call that a perfect game. I imagine we'll never find out how the league would officially call it. However, if someone did win a 10-inning game with 30 straight outs, I'd still count that as a perfect game even though there's a baserunner--since the runner didn't reach on the pitcher.

It actually has happened at least in a high school girls game. Strike out 23 of 24 batters faced, perfect game, loss... because of the extra inning rules. Pretty insane.

She threw a wild pitch that allowed the runner to get to third. Yeah, I disagree with calling that a perfect game.

How about if the cathcher keeps sticking his glove out and interfering with batters? 5 in a row and a run scores, pitcher throwing all strikes. Still perfect?

Errors by other fielders or passed balls would cancel out a perfect game, so no.
