yes but once pardoned you waive your rights to the 5th amendment. So, if Manafort were pardoned, he'd be compelled to testify against Trump should here be an indictment

His biggest problem now is that he and his family face unpardonable legal danger that will outlive his presidency

Agreed, the NY State investigation into the Trump Foundation certainly bears watching. Could a President be indicted on state charges? I'm sure that would go to court, in which case we would be in full blown constitutional crisis mode. And of a president's family is not protected under presidential privilege.
I remember having a bar conversation with a friend around the inaugruation that Trump's finances will become a huge deal during his presidency.
From a pure sideline factor it's going to be fascinating watching this play out. Will Donald J. Trump be president on Jan. 19, 2021? Stay tuned.

Apropos of nothing, the Russian state media released news articles, reporting that President Trump’s residence at the White House has a direct hotline to Moscow, utilizing exclusively Russian-made encryption equipment. Multiple articles were simultaneously released in Russian and English. Russia’s state media outlet Sputnik entitled its article in the most conspiratorial vein possible: “White House Uses Russian Tech to Keep in Touch With Kremlin.”
Russian state media claimed that “Russian-made equipment has been used exclusively ever since the hotline came about” for the direct telephone link connecting Washington with Moscow. Putin previously noted that he talks to Trump over the telephone on a regular basis.

A former Trump World Tower doorman who says he has knowledge of an alleged affair President Donald Trump had with an ex-housekeeper, which resulted in a child, is now able to talk about a contract he entered with American Media Inc. that had prohibited him from discussing the matter with anyone, according to his attorney.
On Friday, Marc Held -- the attorney for Dino Sajudin, the former doorman -- said his client had been released from his contract with AMI, the parent company of the National Enquirer, "recently" after back-and-forth discussions with AMI.
CNN has exclusively obtained a copy of the "source agreement" between Sajudin and AMI, which is owned by David Pecker.
