Looks like a bunch of whipper snappers did their research on case counts relative to hospitalizations relative to age.

B, track this for us and let us know how many UNC freshmen are dead by the time football season starts.

Wow, dude. Wow.
Please calm down, it's a joke. He's at a school full of superspreaders. He's not allowed to come home until December anyway.

Will you handle the contact tracing, to determine how many people those freshmen spread it to? Higher risk over 65s and such.

The vaccine is still doing a good job protecting old and at-risk populations from serious covid, right?

Good enough for another month or so, apparently.

Is there evidence for that? I thought the suggestion was more breakthrough infections with declining vaccine efficacy but that there didn't seem to be an increase in major covid cases?

My understanding is that they're looking at data from Israel. Of course, they were showing waning immunity at the 5-6 month mark, so I would think we would have seen the same thing by now. Of course, if you're just measuring antibodies, that doesn't always prove waning immunity. People walk about with zero measurable HepB antibodies and then get exposed with no problems whatsoever. That's not the case for every disease, so they're probably being cautious here.

Personally, I think they're wasting resources giving more vaccine to people who are pretty well protected, when they could be spending resources convincing or compelling those with no shots whatsoever.

Concrete evidence? Of course not!

But it seems Biden has elected to take a just in case approach, as opposed to last year’s approach leading up to winter.

B, there are no plans to abandon the campaign to get the unvaccinated vaccinated.

True, but money and time you spend on Plan B is money and time not being spent on Plan A. Currently, I'm not convinced that Plan B is money well spent.

If you're at a higher risk there are plenty of precautions you can take and/or adjustments to your lifestyle you can make that make that mitigate the choices that others make. Get vaxxed and stop worrying about what others are doing.

A few things can simultaneously be true:
1. There's no harm in getting a booster, so go get it.
2. The vaccines are still highly effective even without a booster.
3. The assholes causing all the problems are the ones who haven't gotten jabbed even once, so focus on them.

Point 3 is a little problematic and some might say racist given a certain demographic with a very low vaccination rate.

Nobody should be focused on an "enemy". Just worry about yourself and live your life. A lot of old people I talk to don't appreciate being infantilized by doomers about what is best for them anyway.

WHO (for what it's worth) disagrees with #1.
