Chat Pile is doing a free Meet & Greet in December at a local movie store I go to all the time. I always feel weird meeting people and never approach musicians when I see them anymore, but I guess maybe I should go to that.

Yikes. I thought meet and greets were for comic book/Star Trek/k-pop dorks. Wild that Chat Pile are doing one.

I don't think it's whatever you're imagining. They're basically just hanging out at a cool spot and talking to people for a little while. And it's only because they're already in town for a show that night (which I'm going to).

I frequently think about what I would say to musicians if I met them, and then I eventually come to the conclusion the answer is nothing.

This is kinda where I am too, hence my trepidation.

I feel like no one (at least in my circles, which is weird because it feels like my circles are ideal for it) ever talks about The Highwomen album.

I did start the day with the Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires releases from this year so I was like halfway there.

If you include his solo and group work with the Commadores I put Lionel Ritchie on the same God Tier as Prince and Michael.

In the R&B / Soul / Funk world I love dozens and dozens of others but I'm not sure anyone else is as ride or die as those three for the entirety of my life. I have obsessions that come and go but those three are forever. This is just me personally. I'm sure we could all come up with a list of artist that are as culturally important but I'm just talking me.

If you are talking all of R&B and soul, wouldn’t James Brown, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and Marvin Gaye have to all be there on that list?
