Why not? It makes it easier to keep him, but it wasn't just his defense last year, he didn't hit either after April.

i agree with you, but it was already going to be a hard trade to pull off and now it's less urgent

FWIW, I actually do think Hanley can make the transition to 1B and be serviceable.

Did he sign a 4 year contract or 5? If it's 4, once you get through 2016 you are at the point where eating the deal isn't THAT bad.

There's no way Hanley Ramirez can be as bad as he was last year. I really, really want it to happen, but there's no way.
We've had the Hall of Fame debate here before, but here's maybe a more important question: does Ortiz get one of those stupid going away parties from each team?

I don't like the going away parties, but I love David Ortiz so I want him to get one.

I think you guys will like Craig Kimbrel. When he's on, he's almost automatic. He's got a ridiculous "power" curve ball and obviously a great fastball. If the ball is down in the zone, you're good. If he starts throwing too hard, it goes too high in the zone, that's generally when he has bad nights.

I like these two moves.
Price especially. Dare I say, elite.

Anytime you have to just give up $$ for an elite starter is fine with me. Fenway Sports Management, which owns the team, makes it all possible by turning Fenway into a year-round revenue generating machine, from Gammons on Twitter:

The Red Sox generated $28m in spending in Boston last weekend for football and hurling. David Price part of FSM's brilliance
