No testing being carried out in turkey or Russia. Hence no cases.

When in fact it’s probably rampant and unchecked in both.

My wife is an academic advisor at a small private college, and they're about to move classes online--she teaches, too, so she'll have to get used to the online environment. But her advising is 100% in-person, and she's still not clear if they actually want her on campus. She also has her dissertation defense scheduled for two weeks from tomorrow, and that university is about to suspend all on-campus classes as well--but no word yet if they'll allow in-person defense meetings. Just a big clusterfuck. And the thing is, all of these schools are moving classes online, but they've still got to keep dining halls and residence halls open, so it's not as if you still aren't going to have hundreds of students together at the same time.

Seems like the global economy is not designed to withstand all these cancelled events.

I meant when you see a huge jump as in Norway. It's the same here in the States; everyday a bunch of states are now registering their first cases because we're finally starting to test - it's not that those are actually the first instances in those states.

Oh I know. Same here.

The parameters for being tested have just today been expanded.

Previously you had to have met someone infected or been to an infected region.
How th truck do you know someone is infected?
This didn’t take into account endless plane journeys to or from infected regions nor the airports.

We’re headed for a proper disaster in terms of how our economy and societies work. And it’ll come with a break in supply chains and roll down from there.
Not a catastrophe but definitely going to cause massive problems top to bottom.

According to Tampa Bay News 8, lawmakers on Capitol Hills were given new instructions on how to protect themselves from the virus. The House of Representatives’ attending physician has been asking them to stop shaking hands or touching people during greetings. He recommended they begin using the split-fingers Star Trek greeting instead when it comes to direct contact with others.

Seattle public schools are officially down. They say it's for two weeks, but they're having them gut their lockers.

We went from first reported case to no longer functioning as a city in...what was it, thirteen days?

The state's budget cuts did that for us years ago.

most schools across the country are not far behind. it's going to be a more widespread precaution that will take place in wifi capable areas than not.

I have some kind of head cold. Flying home from Denver today, people looked at me like I was patient zero every time I sniffled or coughed.
