I always thought people said "go listen to Candlebox" the same way they would say "get lost" or "get bent". Not to be taken literally.
I never know what to do with Candlebox. I'm not ashamed to say I like a lot of the first three albums. The original guitar player Peter Klett did some pretty cool stuff on those. Some of that is tinted by nostalgia I'm sure? Kevin Martin's lyrics are mostly stupid/nonsensical but he has a good voice. He also seems like an obnoxious poseur who makes shit up? Except the band is from Seattle so they aren't exactly poseurs? Yet they weren't really part of the scene that we all know about so maybe they are? Although it's a fact they are more connected to Seattle than Eddie ever was early on so what does that mean? Haha. You can understand my dilemma.
Apparently he recorded his own audition demo tape for pearl jam?
Pretty sure lots of singers did back in 1990. MLB was on a major label. So yeah, lot's of singers probably sent tapes to Jeff and Stone. Tyler Willman was also considered if I remember correctly.

For both Collective Soul and Candlebox, there were a handful of songs I liked but I don’t recall ever really being fully blown away. I know I had the albums on CD.
He kinda sounds like he might be hiding an agreed-upon return. We don't know anything of course, but it's plausible.
Please go watch the Drumeo where he limps through 10. I know it's tough playing along with music post-production, but it's hard to watch. There's no way he can pull off Grievance or Mind Your Manners or even Spin the Black Circle. I have all the respect in the world for Krusen, he made his mark, but at this age, you need to be an absolute athlete to carry a band like Pearl Jam through 2 hours or even an hour, and he's not there.
He sounds great to me?

Do we think that at Ohana (in a little over a week) we'll finally know the permanent drummer after over a year of waiting? Or do people think that there's gonna be a temporary drummer for that?

yes indeed he does. just really laid back and for anyone used to matt cameron, he's practically asleep

He's a good drummer who used to be great and it shows. It happens. Look at Ed and his voice, age is a real factor here. Especially so for drummers. I'm not comparing his style, I like his style, it's just clear he doesn't have the chops he used to.

Collective Soul’s 2nd, 3rd and 4th albums were pretty good at the time.
The Goo Goo Dolls chorus on Iris was good.
Never cared about Candlebox.
Tonic’s first album blows them all out of the water. I still like that one.
Regarding the drummer, I hope it’s Dave K. Seriously, what’s the downside at this point?

He's a pretty limited drummer who by sheer luck managed to end up playing on a hugely successful album.
I don't think he's gotten worse (as someone else suggested), but the band were obviously keen to find someone better back in the day.
I don't mean to suggest he's a bad drummer, he's just several rungs below everyone else they've played with.
