Ill be keeping my eye on that.
I have low expectations for this. Splitting it into a 50's story and an 80's story is a horrible idea. In the book, everything set in the 50's was magical and terrifying, like Back to the Future made into a really great horror story. But everything set in the 80's felt really lurid and trashy. Beverly's abusive husband, the one kid that kills himself in the bathtub, all the stuff with the bully (Henry I think?). Yuck. That book is 50% horror masterpiece/50% dimestore garbage.
The article says it could still very well be one movie. They are just filming it like two movies. Maybe they'll keep it that way or maybe they'll edit them together.

I wasn't a big fan of the book, actually. So I'm pretty excited about this.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

While I really disliked Ridley in TFA, if anyone can make her work, it's Uthaug.

Remember those rumours claiming 90s boy band members were going to team up for a zombie western?

Well, this is a thing that's happening.

Members of The Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync and 98 Degrees have been working away on the new Syfy movie Dead 7.

I have to admit that I'm fairly fascinated by the second Wachowski brother also being transgender. And I'm also fairly pissed with how it was revealed. Brit tabloids are the fucking worst.

They make a movie about my glorious Nina, and they center it around a male support figure?

One that was invented for the movie specifically, as he was gay and didn't have an affair with Nina in real life, according to her daughter.

The reasoning behind this movie and the portrayal of Nina it seems to be giving is just odd. It's a shame because she would make for a very compelling biopic subject without the need of much alteration.

I did, i liked it a lot.
I think i've read somewhere that her estate wanted to do this documentary to contrast the portrayal the movie would gave of Nina.
I think Mommie Dearest and The Doors made estate's paranoid about the effect a biopic can have on the public perception of their subject.

You gave me an idea.
Here's the trailer of the documentary

and here's Nina Simone performing Black is the color of my true love's hair

for comparison with the trailer of the Nina movie.

I don't expect a biopic depiction to be identical to the original but here it seems they didn't even try to give a realistic portrayal and i'm not talking about Saldana's appearance but how, i'd say, harmless she feels compared to the real Nina.
