picked up a slightly used copy of the best of r.e.m. in time: 1988 - 2003 for the pretty reasonable price of $65. also picked up a sealed copy of around the sun for about the same, but let's not talk about that album. only r.e.m. release i need now is reveal. still kicking myself for not picking it up for $10 when it was in the clearance bin for what seemed like an eternity about ten years ago.

after giving up on my RCA console due to too much more being wrong with it to fuck with, I kinda went in the market for a new secondary turntable. Turns out a friend from work was willing to part with his because he rarely used it. Ended up being a Pioneer PL-518. This thing is way beyond the quality turntable I was expecting to find for a secondary turntable and might end up becoming my primary turntable.

Not sure I have anything in my collection I'd be willing to try this on. Anyone tried?

Three damn good albums right there. Neon Bible is so underrated.

Oh, and what have you all been spinning lately? I'd proofreading a book this week, so I've been parked next to my stereo since Monday. Just a sampling:
The Decemberists - "Castaways & Cutouts"
Molina & Johnson - "Molina & Johnson"
Amalgamated Sons of Rest - "Amalgamated Sons of Rest"
Mountain Goats - "All Hail West Texas"
Bonnie Prince Billy - "Ease Down the Road"
Norfolk & Western - "A Gilded Age"
Pearl Jam - "Drop in the Park"
Alice In Chains - "Jar of Flies / Sap"
Sigur Ros - "( )"
Strand of Oaks - "Heal"
Bon Iver - "Bon Iver, Bon Iver"
I'm missing some.
