What's your #1? I haven't played this yet but damn, SMB3, SMW, 64, Galaxy 1 & 2, New SMB are all near perfect.
SMB3 is number 1. And yeah I understand how bold that statement was.

I wasn't a big fan of 64 and while I loved Galaxy 1 I never played Galaxy 2.
Not bold to me. 64 has aged the least gracefully of the group. Galaxy 2 is a must if you liked Galaxy 1.

For the record, I have beaten SMB3 as every Mario type except for Frog (it's impossible).
What do you consider the most useless item in SMB3?

I play with the gamepad but I don't have the pro controller. Tom, do you have a Wii U but not have the gamepad? Is that possible?

Star? I enjoy the suits, whistles and hammer. I never loved the Pwing either, but I used it when I was young. Are there any other items?

The correct answer is the anchor. I may have accepted the music box.

The star is not useless, there's a level in world 7 where it is necessary.

I have the gamepad but I don't care for it. Of the games I have it is nearly useless. Terrible battery too. I want to buy a controller. I was going to grab one with Hyrule Warriors but maybe I'll grab one and Mario sooner.

I keep the gamepad on the charging stand and have no issues with its battery life.

I remember the anchor. I don't remember the music box. What did it do? I only remember using stars on those 1 on 1 mini encounters.

The music box put the hammer head brothers to sleep so you wouldn't get sucked into them when navigating around the world. There's a level in world 7 where you get a star early and need to have the star when you hit the next block to get another one (or else it's just a coin). In that level you have to run over plants the whole time so you need them.

I have a Wii and want to get a Mario game to introduce my daughter to the magnificence of the series. Which way should I go: New Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Galaxy?

Yeah we keep ours in the stand no issue with batteries. I hate the gamepad so I got the Pro controller if you get one you won't regret it. My oldest loves the gamepad so it worked out for everyone. When we play Kart my wife gets stuck with the wii controller. :D

Batman: Arkham Origins is on sale for PS+ users for $8.40. I know this one was kinda panned, but is it worth it for that price?

i do. i've spent all of my time doing side missions, mini games and random shit. i've had the game for months now and i don't think i've played more than 2 or 3 missions yet. if you like open world stuff without feeling like you have to make progress in the story every time you play, then you should like this. i wouldn't say i'm completely in love with the game, but i definitely don't regret buying it.

This brings up a general question: how many here have already gone next-gen? If so, which console? If not, do you plan to? If so, is there a specific something you're waiting for to upgrade?

I haven't yet, but I'm planning to buy a PS4 once No Man's Sky, Mass Effect 4, or a remastered Mass Effect Trilogy comes out (whichever comes first).
