Finally I able to run uphill post breaking my ankle. For now this fact alone is enough to make me happy. Soon I'll start getting upset at my lack of fitness but for now I'm happy.

Been doing a boot camp a couple days a week at work. Week 2 of 8 down. Surprised how tough it is. I am not that used to full range of motion exercises like we've been doing.

That's great to hear, I completely know where you're coming from.

I had neurosurgery on my ankle about 2 months ago, and haven't been able to even start running yet. Just before surgery, I was running at just under 5 mins/km. I hate to think what it's dropped to now, but I just can't wait to start running again.

It's only only real outlet, and I think I've started to go a little insane without it.

I made myself go to the gym last night & got an okay 45 minutes in but it wasn't easy. Past few weeks I haven't been as motivated and have a few halfhearted workouts. Need to snap out of it.

Did better this morning. Mixed up my weights a bit and hit the treadmill for 20 minutes. I think I'll double up and go back again tomorrow and rest Monday.

I did double up. No treadmill but I did knock my weights a little. Felt good, now a rest.

Finished my ride today and it kicked the shot out of me. It ended up being 102.5 miles and including breaks took me 7:31. Slow as hell but I was using a commuter bike, not a road bike, flat pedals not clip-ons, got caught at a train crossing, had to replace my front tire and stopped for the three people I saw with broke down bikes on the side of the road. I was only it it to complete so I don't feel bad about my time. I feel good about stopping to help and trying to cheer people up who felt like shit.

I can honestly I hated every mile after mile 65. So much side and headwind for those last 40 miles. Beat tired and time to beer up.

4th day without a run, but I've been on a fairly strict diet. I weighed myself this morning and I'm now below 165 for the first time in more than year. I'd like to get under 155 before coming out of summer hibernation.

Since everyone is boasting about their workouts, why shouldn't I do the same?

So yesterday morning it was grappling circuit time, which is basically this:

Last night I went to boxing and thaiboxing training.

Wednesday will be stronglifts day. Thursday and Friday MMA, boxing and thaiboxing with another stronglifts workout Friday morning.

Good times.

dont you mix boxing/thaiboxing w/ mma training? or is mma training juts grappling?

MMA isn't just grappling, it definitely includes striking as well. Also, no, I do the thaiboxing and boxing separately, which (naturally) means much better overall striking.

i know mma isnt just grappling, but if you have 2 separate work outs for 2 separate styles of striking, i would think you wouldnt strike much, or at all, in your mma workout

Solid 7 miles tonight....got a 10k Saturday. The God's have been merciful as the weather will be in the 60's at race time Saturday. The Bix7 was the first road race I ran after my stroke last year. I just need to beat my very average 55 minute time. Shouldn't be a problem. Plus, there will be over 10,000 people there....many of which will be attractive women.

Oh that, yeah. The focus in the mma classes is definitely on grappling in a mma context with striking being used mostly as entry into a takedown or in ground and pound and similar stuff. Of course, there's also sparring, which mixes everything up (as opposed to rolling, which is grappling only, which we do as well). I hope that's a bit clearer, sorry for not getting you earlier.
