Do you truly think the idea that people do not use Rotten Tomatoes in their decision-making process is so absurd as to be laughable? I gotta say man, that feels like a really untenable position, given that the site makes money on ad revenue and there's really no reason to *go* to the site if you're not going to use that info.

Or instead are you assuming that *I* use Rotten Tomatoes to make my super-hero movie-going decisions, thus evincing that I am a hopelessly out-of-touch wanna-be cultural elite, ensconced in my Princeton bubble and pandering to whichever way the cultural wind blows?

Why not? You are thinking avout seeing a movie, but don’t want to see a shit one. So you check the rating in the newspaper, or on rateyourmusic, rt , metacritic or imdb or whatever. It’s not rocket science.
