I love Hailee Steinfeld and wish she would choose some better projects.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Too unfocused to really be anything.

I developed an intense dislike for Laura Linney about ten years ago. I've apparently done a very good job of avoiding her for the last decade. I just started Sully, and right at the beginning he's talking to his wife on the phone, and I find myself getting upset and thinking, 'who is this terrible actress?' Come to find out, it's Laura Linney! I still hate her.

her character in Sully is such a joke...all she does in complaint and cry about pretty much everything.

It was silly. The movie did a lot of things well, basically everything on the day of the incident. But the wife phone calls were dumb as hell and poorly written and pointless. And the big drama about the board trying to crucify Sully is overwrought and feels wrong, especially when they just drop it all of a sudden to heap praise on him after all. There was a better story in there, I'm sure.

Hell or High Water.
Pretty good but not Best Picture good. I wouldn't be shocked to see it get screenplay though. Jeff Bridges is great but the character is not exactly new to him. Clocking in under 100 minutes (without credits) it moves along quickly.

I had to look her up but yeah, def agree with you. Weak link in The Truman Show and of the other 5 movies of hers, I can't remember her in any of them. Huh.

For me a person I've tried to actively ignore is Holly Hunter. She sounds like she just had a stroke and even looks like it, with the left side of her face always turning down.

Linney's bizarre, labored, actorly mannerisms suited her Truman Show character perfectly, but are mostly off-putting in other roles.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I'm fine with Laura Dean and Holly Hunter. But Laura Linnea is insufferable, and seems to attract roles with horribly written dialogue. Or maybe she just can't act so adequate dialogue just feels forced and phony.
