angelina is great. we couldn't be bothered to wait in the queue at their location across from the louvre, but found some of their wares elsewhere.
nice
last time i was in paris i was alarmed at the size of the line but it moved quickly and we got in. that is such an incredibly fancy street architecture-wise
that place looks boring and horrible and full of stupid people that pay 100$ for eggs Benedict and fruit

The secret is in the ingredients. French grade ingredients on US soil. May not look like much on paper but every bite is a delightful surprise. I've had most of the menu at this point. Despite it being a brunch place, it's hard for me not to order the chicken milanese. light and elegant yet tasty and satisfying

Strong urge to go downtown and eat lunch outside before it becomes 100000000 degrees every day for the next 6 months.

I love walking around NYC and seeing throwbacks to another time. Today I saw a dude stuck in the seventies, hairstyle and all, with an old mets cap on. Then I saw an old lady with way too much theater-style makeup on who was probably a cabaret singer in the 60's or 70's and still dressing in that style.

it's like discovering a message board with people that post about a band that hit its peak 30 years ago and that primarily listen to music from that era. time stands still.

Had my seniors do some writing this week after reading “The Paper Menagerie.” They could either write about the story or about their own parents. 90% went autobiographical. I swear every year the stories get worse. Tons of stories about deadbeat parents, jailed parents, drugs, alcoholism, abuse, abandonment, the foster care system, dead siblings, finding dead siblings, etc. Those are all annual themes, though. This year I have one who witnessed who he thought was his dad commit suicide in front of him, then was later abused mentally, physically, and sexually by the step dad, and then found out his real dad is in jail. Thought that was going to be the low until my immigrant Guatemalan student currently living in a hotel with his brother wrote about how his mom tried to have one of his uncles kill him, and he recently saw videos from home of his younger siblings being mistreated. How the fuck do these kids do math and apply for college? Jesus Christ.
