Is this commentary clip actually revolutionary to anyone? It's what we get just watching the scene. Abrams provides no insight that isn't on the screen*. Why are people freaking out about this?

*The caveat is that he does specifically say that all of the visions are from the past at one point. But I don't know if that's meaningful. We'll have to wait and see.

Kylo Ren has never met Rey (prior to TFA) .... but he has heard of her.

Now THAT is fucking interesting.

beginning to think Rey wasn't abandoned or hidden by her family but rather was stolen away/kidnapped from Luke or the academy as a child as a way to hurt Luke/make him go off the rails. Perhaps by Snoke or knights of Ren. It would make it easier for them to gain control and sort of take Luke out of the picture by him being distraught or whatever and make it easier for them to do whatever it is they're looking to do.

Also valid that she's possibly a clone of vader or the emperor or Luke's DNA.

The empire staged its very last stand at Jakku and threw everything at it. And lost. The secret research facility the emperor had was there somewhere and to be protected at all costs.

There's endless rabbit holes you can go down with theories leading out from force awakens.
I think that's a wonderful testament to the film and story they've established.

So, your theory is that when Luke's child was taken from him he simply goes into hiding? I don't see that his very likely. I would think he would do everything he could to find his child.

JJ says it in the commentary track on the new TFA 3D Blu Ray release.

“One of the new relationships that we were focusing on was between Kylo Ren and Rey. They’ve never met but he’s heard of this girl.”

Kinda puts a kink in more than a few fan theories out there. And I LOVE it.

Oooh. Why do I kind of like the idea that she's a clone? I don't think they'll go that route. But as I read it, I liked the face of that idea.

I wonder if people will be upset if she really is just a girl who was abandoned. She's obviously super force sensitive. Maybe she wigged out, threw a tantrum and destroyed some shit accidentally. And her parents abandoned her with no intention of coming back because they didn't a dangerous freak daughter. Maybe it's more X-Men than Star Wars. Maybe Luke hasn't ever met her either. But of course he knows about her, can sense her, because of how powerful the force is in her.

He didn't go into hiding though. He went looking for the first Jedi temple. And he's found it.


Also thinking that Jedi mountain statue we see is actually Luke. As part of the prophesy.

Can't see Disney going near the clone thing as it relates too much to the prequels.

Well you're not far away. The Jedi knew when and where Force strong children were born in the galaxy and would go and take them away from their family to be trained. Similar to professor X knowing where all mutants with potential are.

That would be fantastic. But there's no way they go there. The people have already shown they can't take something like that.
