Yeah, I'm not really sure how any source could state outright that the agreement has nothing to do with the Trump campaign. And if the counsel had carved out some kind of agreement that Manafort would help them with everything but Trump, I can't believe Manafort's lawyers would be gullible enough to accept that on faith alone. I would think that would have been part of the agreement.

Long-story-short: This is not just a Trump-Russia investigation, but rather a Trump-Russia-Ukraine-Saudi Arabia-Israel investigation. There are a number of players and info that Manafort could be discussing that are still quite valuable to Mueller, and could all be delivered without sending Trump into overdrive because they allow the press to report "No info on Trump." Seth's favorite players for such a deal are Trump Jr, Prince, Bannon, etc.
