I listened to this song again this morning: Eddie is the problem. I agree more bass would help but Eddie just can’t sing this. It sounds like Robert Plant now trying to hit the high notes on early Zeppelin. His voice just crashes.

considering the statement they were trying to make with it, i'm comfortable calling it their worst song (alongside future days).

the lyrics dont do this any favors either

in havent listened to it in a long while but Future Days is a pretty, personal, inoffensive little number. It doesnt aim high enough to hate

the live performances of future days improved considerably over the course of the LB tour

I don't feel like reading through to see if this has been discussed. But if this was left off of the upcoming album, it pretty much solidifies it being one of the Christmas singles they owe us, right?

I don't think the band ever gave any indication it was a Christmas single.

Future Days isn't a bad song at its core, it just sounds terrible on the the album due to Brendan's production choices . The song would've been much improved by being presented as minimally and naturally as possible.

I'm not saying they did. I'm saying, if it is BOB produced and therefore not on the album, what an easy thing for them to just throw at us as a Christmas single.

I think that there was some official word from the band referring to "Can't Deny Me" as an "annual single." I also think "Future Days" is a bad song at its core

Every time I start getting excited for Gigaton and to see what Pearl Jam has created after no new music in 7 years, I remember this song exists and lose all hype instantly

Should've been produced like Around the Bend.

That piano intro is criminal and virtually every other embellishment just detracts from the song.

No production choices would resolve the vocal delivery in that song. An Around the Bend arrangement plus a different singer might result in something good
