I'm a bit behind on this, but I started watching the docuseries Ugly Delicious. It seems like most of the show is centered around him promoting his friend's restaurants, which is fine. I do enjoy the origin story aspects of the foods that are featured, and the origin stories of the chefs and their restaurants.

I watched Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner before UD, and I think I enjoy UD more.

Does anyone else watch UD? Thoughts?

i watched a few episodes and i like it. I like how rude Chang is sometimes.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I can’t stand David Chang, and his partnering with Aziz Ansari is the perfect example why: His food varies from great to mediocre to awful, and he’s basically selling the hype of food. Idiotic. Everything that’s wrong with western cuisine these days.

I like how he handles the series. I agree that he seems like a very snob type of guy, but at the same time he defends Domino´s pizza. And i love how rude he is sometimes.

I have no idea if he's a snob or what... The thing is, his food is just not very good. He's got a tremendous marketing team that sells (mostly) crap food at exorbitant prices, so he can pay his NYC rent. And it's mostly couched in the "Wow, wouldn't spaghetti and Skittles be CRAZY?!" sort of thing that I can't stand.

I'll admit his Momofuku ramen is excellent. Every other dining experience I've had at his restaurants has sucked.

I just don't like what he stands for in food, so I'm not interested in watching. Maybe the show if great? But if Aziz is involved too, I'm guaranteed to hate it.
