can we get an official list going? Because I'm pretty sure people are just counting the same ones over and over.

I have :

1. Ford: sexual assault in high school. no evidence. no witnesses. passed a lie detector test in which she was asked only two pertinent questions. 4 people swore she told them her story decades later, and this qualifies as proof somehow.

2. Ramirez: his dick was in her face at a party in college. won't testify without an investigation. no evidence. no witnesses.

3. Swetnick: saw him in line at a gang rape party in college, which apparently she frequented quite often, yet no one has ever heard of her or any of this. Has about as much credibility as pizzagate for a few reasons.

4. Some loon who called for a coup and accused Trump of manslaughter. later recanted, but #believesurvivors, right? (incredibly, this was considered to be a serious accusation, as CNN and others apparently considered it to have merit)

5. I think one more? some anonymous one. no date, place, names. but yeah I'm sure this is the one that will do him in.

Are we done with this bullshit now?

Well, Renate Schroeder, one of the 65 women who signed a letter of support for Kavanaugh found out this week that he was secretly calling her a slut behind her back when they released his yearbook of evidence of his high moral character.

Who was under the delusion that the supreme court nomination process wasn't political before this?

Thought of this post after reading something about the history of confirmations and confirmation hearings the other day.

Antonin Scalia was confirmed 98-0, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was confirmed 96-3, and Clarence Thomas was confirmed by a Democratic-majority Senate. The process might have always been political, but it's never been this partisan. I'm not optimistic we'll ever get back to the point where this process - any political process, really - isn't hopelessly compromised by partisan fatuousness.

If the White House wont pull him and he won’t step aside, their only real options are “investigate the claims properly, and risk running out of time to get a replacement lined up,” or “rush the defense and then let him fail in a full vote.”
