Dime, goddamn i love you. Youve been a good friend. However, you sound like my wife.

I say that with love. Me and my wife have gotten into these gross conversations and it happens with a lot of very left leaning people, which i consider myself!

However, we argued the other night about this shit talking about Israel Government going after Hamas/Hezzbolah with these wild attacks. And she looks at me and goes "So you support israel?! and killing babies??!"

And I just...rolled my eyes and told her "yes, yes i do".

So, i ask, and i ask this with love and in good faith to Dime and really all of you, why is it so difficult for the "left" to Denounce the ISraeli Governments response/killing innocent citizens, while ALSO condemning Hamas etc...? Why can't both be atrocious/awful/evil/unnecessary?

My wife, god bless her, has a hard time separating the Israeli Government and its people, then puts everyone in the same box with no nuance or any discussion, particularly with this issue (and trumpers).

So, i ask, with love, why is it so difficult to denounce both sides of this conflict? And why, when the desire for a nuanced discussion about it, does it turn into "you're fine with genocide, killing babies, fuck you, you are a sexist, piece of shit"

not saying thats how far it gets with my wife but...dime certainly makes quick pivots here, even though, he knows me....outside of RM, to be a good dude?

What he's saying, and I agree with it, is the opposite. Iranian proxies (triple-h: Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthi) abuse our moral revulsion at seeing innocents killed as a strategy for avoiding consequences for their atrocities. Failure to act, failure to respond with overwhelming force, justifies this strategy and thus turns it into the default for any group of psychos anywhere on earth and that is what cannot be allowed if we want civilization to exist. We cannot allow the use of human shields to scale.

That is one of the fundamental points of disagreement in this thread. Not who anyone supports. No one supports Hamas.

If someone shot my kid and used my wife as a shield to get away, he'd get away.

If you're willing to kill anyone and everyone to get to Hamas, what are you even protecting?

Top Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil was killed on Friday in an Israeli strike on Beirut's southern suburbs, two security sources told Reuters.
One of the sources said he was killed alongside members of Hezbollah's elite Radwan unit as they were holding a meeting.

Hezbollah are taking a lot of losses this week. Can’t imagine they will let this slide.
