Did good last night, nearly an hour in the weightroom followed by 1 1/4 mile on the treadmill. Back at it tomorrow.
That's a speedy time, friend. You were like a LIGHTNING BOLT!!!verb_to_trust wrote:50:45 today at the race (7.2mi). Good for 882/10,672. This was the most consistent race I have been able to put together in my three prior runs here as my splits were only 6 seconds apart. The whole second half of the race is some pretty tough hill work. Saw prior Olympic qualifier Meb Keflezighi there, he finished third...the winner from Kenya clocked in at just over 32 minutes.
It was 58 degrees at race time, pretty unheard of in July around these parts.....

Yes, but how many youtube views does he have?turned2black wrote:That's a speedy time, friend. You were like a LIGHTNING BOLT!!!verb_to_trust wrote:50:45 today at the race (7.2mi). Is this because of your disability? Forgive me for prying man, I'm not sure how much you like to talk about it publicly. I don't know much about it, or what type you have.harmless wrote:I was weight at the hospital the other day. I was 13 stone. Considering my height I don't want to be that heavy but I don't seem to have any choice.
Na, it's cool and I'm pretty open about it. I have Spina bifida, which doesn't directly affect my weight except that being in a wheelchair, there's very little I can do to lose midriff weight. I do strength stuff as much as I can but my health hasn't been great in the past few years so the amount I've been doing has diminished a little.Sgt. Man, that sucks. Is that something that has affected you since birth? Is that why things get you down sometimes?harmless wrote:Na, it's cool and I'm pretty open about it. Yeah, I was born with it. After 31 years it's just one of those things; I don't really compare my life or difficulties with anyone else's because I guess we all have different ones and I've not known anything else. So my shit is just my shit and it don't stink any more than anyone else's. I've been luckier than some, and I don't think able-bodied people are exempt from a difficult life. But yeah, I guess sometimes it can be one of many factors, and my health has been a bitch lately. Mental health mostly but also several doctors appointments a week. They've got far more frequent over the last few years.Sgt. Crackpot wrote:Man, that sucks. Is that something that has affected you since birth? Have you tried those lumbar extension machines where you lean back against a padded arm that raises weights? I remember seeing an interview with Tim Duncan where he swore by them for keeping his back healthy.fishbob wrote:Did 3.2km on the cross trainer, some situps, 14.5km on the bike, some chest things and 5 mins more on the cross trainer
Think the bike is fucking with my back, it's been sore for weeks
Were you running a lot of hills? I have tight achilles and calves and my feet go numb if I'm running a lot of hills. They come back to normal once I have a flat stretch though.red calzolaio wrote:scary shit. both feet went completely numb for about 10 minutes during my run today.
