I just read that most of Season 5 will use plots from books 4 & 5. I'm sure there will be some variance, just like there always has been. But I'd imagine most of the season will be familiar to book readers.

I still contend that, based on what my friends who have read the books have told me, it's better to read the books second. If not, you'll watch the shows and naturally start criticizing them in spots where they're not "true to the books," which takes the enjoyment out of watching. Also, there's something about the sheer anticipation and not knowing what's going to happen next when watching the shows that you can't really get from turning a page in a book.

I'm the exception to the rule. I read the first 3 books before the Pilot of the show aired. And I hung on every word while reading and every frame of every episode while watching. Even the biggest moments that I knew were coming where riveting to me. That's just how good this show is. Plus it streamlines a lot of the books' story.

So, I'm a big fan of reading the books first. But it's also really easy for me to separate the mediums. I want the show to vary from the books. It has to, and I expect and look forward to it.

I'm not a big reader, but I loved reading the books in the series. If anything, reading the books enhanced my watching of the show. There were only a few parts especially this past season that were kinda upsetting as a book reader. The flip side of that, putting Arya and Tywin together at Harrenhal made from some great moments on screen, so change can yield positive results.
