No but given the effort they put into that goodbye scene, it would seem like a lot to go through to just swerve us.

We are all focused on "who got the bat?", and not how funny and brutal and sadistic Negan is. He doesn't give a rats ass about any of these people that we have been with for so long. It undermines what made that moment great in the book.

This irritated the hell out of me. Whatever makes you feel as though you are justifying your poor ending choice, Gimple.

But he named other cliffhangers in other popular shows. That shows he is a regular guy that likes TV.

Based on what AMC did to Darabont. I am not taking blame away from Gimple. but this also could of been a AMC decision. What are they gonna do when they start filming? Pay the guy they killed to sit around a few weeks?

It totally took away from a pretty good season and just neutered negan.

Yeah, it is pretty stupid and he is dumb. I watched after finale last night to see what excuses they gave for lame cliffhanger. Also, they take "video questions" from long haired neckbeard fans like "what weapon do you think ______ would be more proficient with if they didn't have a gun?".

The worst episodes of Talking Dead are whenever Kirkman is on. He comes off like a pompous ass every time.

Kirkman is the worst. I listened to his WTF and it was awful.

he is, but he also has a balance of brutality and being funny.

So those Wolves Walkers in the trailers from last season went unresolved. It seems strange that they made a point of showing the coral system working, but never really came back to it.

Here's my issue with the "Negan is more reasonable" take. He is a complex villian; certainly not the unhinged psychopath the Governor was, and sometimes appears even more reasonable than Rick when it comes to action and reaction, but he is still more of a "bad guy". He acts from a position of power and leverage over every group he encounters, able to take what he wants by force through numbers or by intimidation, without ever having to put himself in harm's way. Telling jokes before viciously and nonchalantly executing people by smashing their skulls in with a louisville slugger while those who care watch helplessly is a special kind of violence. He kills to maintain a status quo and not out of necessity for survival ("necessity" is debatable if you reach).

In short, Negan rules with fear, and his appetite for flashy executions without ever risking his own hide says a lot about his character.

I would say he's calculating more than anything. Even last night they made a point of saying loss v acceptable loss. He has a military general view of things.
