Start with photo 16
all of that for 899K? I can't afford it but it seems like a good deal.

Still seems really cheap. That'd get you a shoebox apartment in Auckland these days.

I have a fellow who wants to trade me this guitar for my Marshall amp

https://reverb.com/p/gibson-les-paul-cl ... ukQAvD_BwE

Any thoughts on this model? I’ve been wanting a Les Paul with p90’s but wanted the tv yellow reissue ….

Not sure in quality of these guitars as I know Gibson has had some troubles over the past ten years. Any feedback from you gearheads?

First off, it's gonna be heavy. I think those models have no weight relief. Both of my Gibsons are 2003s, so I really can't speak to their recent QA issues. I would think most problems could be solved with minimal effort. Most of the complaints are usually minor, but given the cost they are justified.

I have a special with P90s and it's great. The separate volume and tone controls will give you tons of sonic possibilities. If you don't have anything with P90s now, and you truly have no need for the amp, I think it'd be a good swap. P90s fill a space between Fender type single coils and humbuckers.

Side note: Gilmour used a goldtop with P90s for the solo in Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2.

I'm not a Gibson expert by any means, but I would personally also prefer a Les Paul Special in TV yellow.

I think I'd keep holding out for a buyer for the amp, though then again I'm also incredibly impatient when selling and would probably end up lowering the price just to get it out the door and move on.

Alternatively, selling guitars is often easier than selling amps (and they're certainly easier to ship), so you could try the Les Paul for a bit and then move it along if it's not your thing.

I live in a very small town where most "guitar players" are acoustic players only and if electric....not really a marshall kind of person.

This might be my best bet. I haven't seen anything online yet to suggest this is a shitty guitar.

This is the guitar:

Gibson Les Pauls are overpriced IMO. I do get the appeal, but most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an Epi and a Gibson tonally. I know that you're basically paying for minor build quality improvements which can improve playability etc., but the question is whether the step up is worth the massive price jump.

I would be patient with the amp sale, but that's just me.

Did you say you've got an SG, Strat?

I do have an SG.

I like the idea of this trade because ive been wanting P90's back in my arsenal. I really wanted that Les Paul Special TV yellow with P90's and this might satisfy that - other than color.

Maybe it’s just the angle of the photo - and I don’t know much about the topic other than I generally love the look of a Les Paul - that one is just meh, honestly.

I also find that buying stuff used is very awkward - you feel rushed trying it out or whatever, and guilty if you don’t buy it after arranging the meet up. Then if people try to haggle price, ugh. And finally good luck returning it if you change your mind or discover a problem.

PS - Strat, of the city of Vail, of course will not stoop below real-deal Fenders and Gibsons. Respect.

Its a bonus of not having kids!

I dont love the color of this guitar. I wouldnt buy it myself but for a straight up trade with an amp i dont use is tempting!

That pic just looks way off. Like the body at the neck area looks just as wide as the widest part of the body on the lower end. That ain’t right, man.

If you really want the special, hold out and sell the amp. There are a few different versions selling between $1200 and $1500.
I like this one because it also has the bridge instead just the tailpiece. https://reverb.com/item/41770989-gibson ... LH8u8gPKO4

This one has the wrap-around only, but you'll save some cash: https://reverb.com/item/42626011-gibson ... -2019-2020
