Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Since it looks like The AV Club is going to shit, does anyone have any suggestions for good alternatives? That's kind of been my daily go-to for entertainment news, reviews, re-caps, etc.

(also, is there a better thread to ask this in? probably)

Kevin and Winnie from the original Wonder Years would be at least in their mid 60s today.

I must be getting old; I still don’t get what the big deal about Euphoria is. Attractive twentysomethings playing high schoolers having sex and doing drugs is hardly ground breaking melodrama.

I've been watching the Pam & Tommy show. At one point it shows Tommy being real depressed about the downward trajectory of his career, and he's sitting around watching TV and he sees a news report that's like "is Seattle replacing LA as the new epicenter of rock???" and he gets all bummed out about it and it's funny

But, the show takes place in 1996. Wasn't the whole Seattle/grunge thing pretty dead at that point? That was dumb

No. Grunge began in 1995 and phased out in 2000ish.
