Has there been any rumblings about high schools mandating for students now that it's approved?

Hopefully. The more families that flee the public education system, the better.

Is there some boilerplate in the contract about agreeing to take all specified vaccines? Other than honorable seems kinda harsh. Isn't a medical separation the easiest and fastest to process?

It's right next to the new section that allows gauges no larger than a quarter in size and allowed hair dye from the 7 visible spectrum colors only.

The hospital my wife works at announced that they wouldn't hire anybody who hadn't been vaccinated. Then a week later they announced a bonus for all employees fully vaccinated by October. Then like another week later they announced that failure to obtain a vaccine by that date except for religious/health exceptions would be viewed as a resignation.
A bunch of hospitals/healthcare systems in Chicago and Wisconsin, that I’m aware of, have been doing essentially the same for a month or so now. Just surprised Northwestern, the top hospital in Chicago, hasn’t pulled the trigger. Perhaps they’ve just had less vaccine resistance from their employees, but for optics, you’d think they’d have announced something.
Have you been in contact via Zoom with their CMO?
No, why?
To shape public health policy and guidelines silly!
As I said above, more and more healthcare providers are requiring vaccinations. It’s the trend.

And why would you have an issue with medical personnel - who interface with the elderly, the immunocompromised, children, and the unvaccinated on a regular basis… that go to hospitals and clinics to feel better, not worse - needing to be vaccinated against a novel virus that’s killed over 600,000 people over the last year and a half?
I didn't say that I did. Vaccinated people still seem to be spreading this though so not sure it will matter much at the end of the day.
So we agree, yet you still talk shit. Get a life!
Your mask is less than ten percent effective
It’s worked well so far, along with other mitigation measures of course.
Like hiding in your basement?
Bro, I spent the first several months of the pandemic going to all sorts of customer locations for work, while you were hiding in yours.

Some folks masked, some not. I wore one, kept my distance when I could, and sanitized my hands regularly.

Maybe I got the rona and was completely asymptomatic, and either magically didn’t spread it to my wife and child, or they were entirely asymptomatic too. But that seems kind of unlikely, so based on my own experience, masks and basic recommended mitigations kept me and my family healthy.

Otherwise, I kept out of indoor public places to reduce my exposure to a minimum, to keep my months old child from contracting it, even if I had a major hankering for taco pizza. It was the correct thing to do.

I was just doing my job like everyone else, mac. I only bring it up to illustrate that masking etc works out in the real world. And to dispel verb’s tired narrative that I’ve been one of his precious neck beards hiding under a rock since last spring.

I've been doing normal shit for over a year sans mask and have never had it as far as I know. PROOF that masks don't matter.

You're still a hero to me. My humble hero.

I don't remember what I signed when I enlisted. I think for new enlistees/commissions it won't be much of a problem with getting them to get the vaccine. I knew going in I was going to get stuck with all kinds of shots, so adding this will just be something that is known before signing your name. If you don't want the vaccine you won't sign up for the military. But not sure what will happen with all the currently serving members.

mac, do we need to talk about how they do work on a community level again? or are you just going to brush that off based on your individual experience, which is completely inapplicable to such a discussion.

We don't need to talk. Let's just hold each other and sway.

Your individual experience is valid and proves a larger point, mine is not and does not.

The Anybody want a Corona? thread has been locked for the rest of the day today (Monday) and will return tomorrow (Tuesday). It has gotten way out of hand lately, and many issues have come up. We are enforcing a short break so that people can take a moment to think about recent events in the Anybody want a Corona? thread. We want to have a place that everyone can enjoy and be a part of and it has not been this way recently. Perhaps we need to rethink how things are done in this thread.

That one district in TX that made masks part of the dress code was a clever move.

Yeah. I’m hoping it holds up.

There’s no chance for anything like that here. Our county’s board of education just released stats indicating there have been no students under the age of 12 admitted to our hospital for Covid. A local pediatrician called them out in the paper and said he’s personally admitted 3 within that age group who go to school in our county. “Ignore it and it will go away” seems to be the approach around here.

At least the anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers are taking care of themselves by taking livestock drugs to ward off the Rona.
