Im, sometimes, skipping DM and Running because i listened so much over these months, i wanna focus on the new songs.
But i agree, its a very good listen all way through

I’m fortunate in that I maybe listened to Dark Matter about 10 times or so, so the novelty is still relatively there.VinylGuy wrote:Im, sometimes, skipping DM and Running because i listened so much over these months, i wanna focus on the new songs.

However, I would say it probably holds the least interest for me on the album. Still a fun song but it’s dwarfed by the giants around it.

That's pretty normal. But yeah, great album cover to cover and I find the sequencing to be pretty much spot on for my liking. I may change a thing here or there down the road.
For instance, with Gig, I re tracked like this:
WES
SBWM
Dance
Alright
7
QE
Buckle
Never Dest
CTG
TTLW
Retro
River Cross

True the sequence of songs is really well done. Running has very good spot after all the emotional baggage of the previous songs. It makes the songs better. DM is a very welcome hard rocking song after the beauty of Wreckage.DDWJMUVW wrote:VinylGuy wrote:Im, sometimes, skipping DM and Running because i listened so much over these months, i wanna focus on the new songs.

Stern was talking about PJ again this morning. He couldn't sleep last night because WFS was stuck in his head. He loves it. (The song's lyrics are also entirely appropriate for describing his mental state.)

happy Passover to our Jewish friends
We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

Agreed The tracking on DM is great. I’m curious to see what it would be like switching up wreckage with won’t tell, having wreckage the 4th song, then DM number 5 before upper hand.VinylGuy wrote:True the sequence of songs is really well done. Hoping this album settles really well, thinking it will, because it gets better each listen.

Because I’m in a long meeting that requires nothing of me but attendance, here is the breakdown of the current album polls (total score divided by number of votes, converted to a percent):hlniv wrote:RM 5 star % only is pretty interestingstip wrote:Fattie_Vedder wrote:What does the % represent? Re: Dark Matter: Official Album Thread
This is actually pretty representative of how i feel about the catalogue. I'd have those top 5 in a different order but they are clearly the top 5. Dark Matter would be solidly in 6. Binaural and Gigaton battle out for 7-8, Riot Act and Avocado are close in the 9-10 and Backspacer and LB are clearly the bottom 2 records.hlniv wrote: RM 5 star % only is pretty interesting

Now that Dark Matter is beginning to Gel with my entire listening album, i fucking love it. Super great to have a riff heavy song amongst the rest.
