Is that different from Stomp, Clap, "Hey!"
Interchangeable. I prefer S&H; I think it's a bit more eloquent.
I don't think Arcade Fire are an S&H band. That might be cope, though.
I always thought it was that bastard Mumford who started the whole thing.

Sure, to be clear: I am not suggesting that AF is a S&H band, just that they started the fire that led to it. Sort of like how Helmet is not a Nu Metal band but are often cited as one of the major inspirations that led to Nu Metal.

I don’t like Brandi Carlisle’s voice when she’s singing rock or pop, but I do when she’s singing country.

Is there a term for this specific type of riff? (The intro riff to all three of these)

All three are classic rotary ignition riffs. The picking hand establishes crank motion while the fretting hand stabilizes the tonal flywheel, allowing the song to enter under its own momentum. Another famous example is "Flub" by Roger Spencer

I don't know that there's a name for them, but they're all just open-string-with-rapid-hammer-ons-and-pull-offs riffs.
