Asking as an honest question, other than getting a vaccine passport is there any reason why a person who has had Covid should get the vaccine? I think the jury is still out regarding which provides better immunity, vaccine or natural immunity post Covid.

The official narrative is that even those who have had covid should still get a vaccine for ever more super duper protection.

On the slightly more hopeful side, some recent data suggests that maybe it just takes a breakout happening around them to increase vaccine uptake in that area.

My school district that has mandated masks and sued the state over the issue just sent out their updated covid policy email.

As an individual, I would say there maybe isn't much of a reason.

But I can actually turn this hypothetical into a real scenario, and then I'm not so sure:

A number of my family members are vaccine-reluctant. Nearly all of them also have some variation of an "I got a stomachache sometime in 2020, so that means I got COVID already and I'm immune" story. None of them ever got tested. They felt ill and drew a conclusion...maybe the right one, but literally who knows?

Right now, one of them is pushing for a family get together. But the problem is that my brother has spina bifida and, for a handful of related reasons, is not yet able to get vaccinated.

No problem, they said, we'll come to you so you don't have to travel. We're all immune.

This is the type of gamble that some people are left with, in a world without vaccination requirements. For him, or for a parent of a child with asthma, a world without those requirements inevitably means that their safety will at times live on the word of a man who took an exceptionally wet shit in late January and suspects he knows why.

Missouri's Attorney General just file a class action lawsuit against our local school board's mask mandate. He's following the Josh Hawley rulebook of political posturing with zero substance behind it.
